Fun on the “GO-GO”
HOW TO STAY HEALTHY & CONSISTENT WHILE TRAVELING

Summer and work travels does not have to mean that you completely do away with your clean eating habits and exercise goals….you simply compromise.
If you live non-stop in your world that’s one thing, but to take it on the road is a whole different craziness. Whether it be the family vacation, the girl’s trip, the family reunion, happy hour with the besties, a work conference, or an influx of work lunches and events…you can stick to your goals if you plan. Magic words from the world of fitness…”plan ahead.”
1. PREPARE
Getting small snacks ready ahead of time make traveling easier. So many pre-packaged bars, nuts, and jerky’s are great for travel and airport waiting around. Lessens the temptations of other restaurants and bars. Pack that carry-on with healthy eats.
2. STICK WITH A DRINK
Having a few drinks on vacation is hard to overcome and sometimes much needed. If you are having an alcoholic beverage, choose the clearer liquids or single liquor options without the mix ins.
3. FIND TIME FOR SELF CARE
Quiet time can be essential, specially around stressful work days and lots of meetings. During breakfast or on the Uber rides to/from the hotel, find time to be at peace with yourself and the day ahead.
4. QUICKIE WORKOUTS MATTER
If you don’t have a personal trainer who has prepared a “hotel or travel” workout for you, there are many apps that can offer a 15-30 minute yoga flow, HIIT workout, stretching, or even total body workouts. Ask around or search your fitness apps. You can do in your room, at the hotel, or in the pool. These quick workouts can help boost your energy pronto.
5. STAY WHERE YOU CAN BE BETTER
Now days, hotels are eager to help in your fitness journey by providing lots of great equipment, healthy eating options, sometimes clothes and trainers, and even discounts on local fitness classes. It’s always fun to try out a workout in a new city….Groupon and Living Social are a great tool for that. So instead of Happy Hour…maybe book a class at a local fitness club.
Most important thing on vacation is to have fun in the city your are in. If your regular 3x per week workout routine cannot happen….at least try to compromise in other ways. You will be glad you did and traveling will become easier rather than a hassle. Safe travels!
