Suns Out, Guns Out!
With Spring right around the corner, you know tanks and short sleeves will be trending and in South-Central Texas, the trend will be around until Thanksgiving. I bet you have been walking, squatting, and planking all winter. Keep up the good work and make sure you are giving your upper body the same attention. Push-ups, chin ups, and seated dips will do good things for your posture and your arms. Muscle is important! Here are my tips for being Spring Break ready.
Try Lifting three times a week. Two will give you benefits, and one is better than nothing but isn’t going to do as much good. Make sure to lift enough weight to make it worthwhile. Please don’t choose light weights for every workout. Mix it up with heavy feeling weights and 6-8 reps. Other workouts choose light weights and a rep range of 12 or higher. You need to increase the weight over time. Ideally, you will increase those 5lb-12lb dumbbells for 10lb-20lb dumbbells this year.
Try new exercises, mix it up, and most important have fun while getting stronger!
